Salted Caramel Bites


 
What You Need:

  • 4 cups oyster crackers

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar

  • 3/4 cup butter

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract or paste

  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

Techniques for Crafting Salted Caramel Bites:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    Set the oven to 350°F.

  2. Prepare the Baking Sheet:
    Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil and spray it with nonstick cooking spray.

  3. Spread the Crackers:
    Evenly distribute 4 cups of oyster crackers on the prepared baking sheet.

  4. Make the Caramel:
    In a large pan, melt 3/4 cup of butter over medium heat. Add 3/4 cup of brown sugar and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Stir until the brown sugar dissolves.

  5. Boil the Mixture:
    Once the mixture starts to boil, increase the heat. Stir continuously as it bubbles and lightens in color, which should take about 3-4 minutes.

  6. Coat the Crackers:
    Quickly remove the caramel from heat and pour it over the crackers. Use a rubber spatula to gently mix until all crackers are evenly coated.

  7. Add Salt:
    Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of kosher salt over the coated crackers.

  8. Bake:
    Bake for 8-10 minutes, keeping an eye on the crackers to prevent burning.
